The Swank Rally di Sardegna is designed for all motorcyclists who wish to relive the atmosphere of the great adventures from the golden age of rallying. An event where everyone can have fun at their own pace, in great company, and where rankings take a back seat.
Why Sardignia?
Because few places in the world offer such a wide variety of terrains and landscapes: an island that, with its breathtaking scenery, is a true paradise for enduro. After seven editions, it still moves us just like the first time. You ride from the sea to the mountains across sandy stretches, mud, rocks, countryside, and forests, passing through nature parks and private land.
As every year, the event is open to vintage, modern, and even inappropriate bikes. Those who love competition can register in the Rally category (competitive), while those who prefer a more relaxed approach can opt for the Experience category (non-competitive), following either a road book or GPX track, on the same routes or simplified variants.
With the Swank Rally di Sardegna, Adventure Riding and Deus Ex Machina wanted to bring back to life one of the most epic chapters in Italian and international motorcycling history.
Born in 1984, the Rally of Sardinia quickly became the first “African-style” rally organized outside the continent, later joining the World Rally-Raid Championship for cars and motorcycles alongside Paris-Dakar and the Pharaohs Rally.
The checks and start from the Malpensa motocross track return, enriched by a spectacular night-time prologue. Simplified route for the Experience category.
The first stage offers a brand-new 280 km route with an easy yet very technical enduro special stage; this will be followed by stages of around 230 km, designed to allow everyone to enjoy the adventure to the fullest.
In Sardinia, the stage from Porto Torres to San Teodoro will set the tone for the final two loop stages, starting and finishing in the town center and including an overnight stay in a luxurious 4-star hotel overlooking the sea
The “Swank Rally di Sardegna” was created to give all enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the thrill of the great rallies without the pressure of rankings; however, a little competition always adds to the fun.
In addition to the top 3 positions in the competitive categories R1, R2, and R3, the following awards will be presented:
This is the NON-COMPETITIVE category, open to all types of off-road motorcycles.
For foreign participants, it is required to be a member of the Moto Club Adventure Riding Amateur Sports Association, have the 2026 FMI “Member” card and present the original “Good Health and Physical Fitness” medical certificate for the current year.
Navigation is allowed both with a Road Book and a GPX track (using navigators or smartphones).
The stage route is the same as the Rally categories, or it can be simplified with easy shortcuts and numerous points where tired participants can choose to go directly to the finish line.
This category is allowed to enter the special stages only after the rally categories have passed, and once the roads have been reopened to traffic. Therefore, the routes must be treated as regular transfer sections of the stage, following traffic laws
This is the COMPETITIVE category, divided into:
R1 for vintage motorcycles (pre-31.12.1999)
R2 for modern motorcycles (post-31.12.1999)
R3 for multi-cylinder motorcycles.
Navigation is permitted only with a road book.
European riders must be in possession of national off/road licence and Start permission from their home Federation valid for the current year.
